Jim Hall SkilsUSA Student of the Year

The Jim Hall Memorial scholarship is given each year to an outstanding California SkillsUSA student, preferably to an Industrial Technology Education student. Jim Hall was one of the leading figures in Industrial Technology Education in the state of California. He also was a longtime supporter of California SkillsUSA. For many years, he ran the manufacturing competition for California SkillsUSA. He was also a manufacturing teacher and ROP Director and worked on several projects for the California State Department of Education including the writing of the California Manufacturing Standards. It is CITEA’s distinct pleasure to award the Jim Hall Memorial Scholarship, in the amount of $500, to an outstanding high school California SkillsUSA Industrial Technology Student.

Bill Gray Memorial Scholarship Industrial Technology Student of the Year

The Bill Gray Memorial Scholarship is given to an outstanding Industrial Technology student in California. Bill Gray was a leading figure in Industrial Technology Education in the state of California. He was a woodworking, cabinetmaking, and masonry instructor at Schurr High School in Montebello, California. He was an ROP Director in Montebello and was a highly decorated teacher and administrator, who over the years received every award the California Department of Education and CITEA could award including the coveted Sam Maloof Award. Bill headed up several projects for the California Department of Education including the CITEC project administered at the Los Angeles County Office of Education. He also led the writing committee for the California Construction Standards. It is CITEA’s distinct pleasure to award the Bill Gray Memorial Scholarship, in the amount of $500, to an outstanding high school Industrial Technology Student.

CITEA Middle School Mini-Grant Program Information

Purpose:
The purpose of the CITEA Mini-Grant Program is to provide access to CITEA funding for middle school shop programs. We realize that money is not easily available to middle school shop programs and wish to provide assistance to improve the quality and number of middle school programs in the state of California. The grant can be applied for either as a whole or in part to purchase tools, program aids, or materials.

Criteria to Apply:
To qualify for a CITEA Mini-Grant, the applicant must have been a member of the CITEA for a minimum of one year. The program must serve at list 50 students.

Process:
CITEA will accept applications once each year from January 1st through March 31st. The selection of grant recipient(s) will be made by the CITEA Board of Directors prior to the CITEA Annual State Conference, held in the Fall. Awards will be given at the Annual State Conference. Once an award is received, the recipient will present what was done with the funds at the following year’s Annual State Conference.
The proposal should be submitted on the form provided on the CITEA website (with attachments as needed) and emailed to the Board of Directors at info@citea.org. Applicants will be notified of awards made prior to the Annual State Conference.

Mini-Grant Program Policies:
In any given school year, the CITEA may, as funds are available, establish a pool of available funds for mini-grants during the budget process. Mini-grant award decisions approved by the board are final. An accounting of spent funds will be required at the end of the expenditure of the grant funds.
